Karan Kumar Johar is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, costume designer, actor and television personality who works in Hindi films.
Karan Johar was born in Bombay on 25 May 1972. He studied at the Greenlawns High School and attended H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, both in Mumbai. He received a master's degree in French.
Johar started his career as an child actor in the 1989 Doordarshan Serial Indradhanush.
Johar made his directorial debut with the widely-seen romance Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998),  His next two films were the ensemble dramas Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001) and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006).

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a family drama film written and directed by Karan Johar and produced by Yash Johar. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in leading roles, with Rani Mukerji appearing in an extended special appearance. The film was released on December 14, 2001.

Dil Dhadakne Do is a comedy-drama film directed by Zoya Akhtar, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The film features an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar, with a voice-over performance by Aamir Khan as the family dog Pluto, the narrator of the film. The film was released on 5 June 2015.
