Comments: Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil participated in the adaptation of their original work with Leiber and Stoller. Mann and Weil had pitched it to Leiber and Stoller for performance by The Drifters. The more experienced songwriting pair were interested in the song if certain changes were made and told Mann and Weil they could all rewrite it together or Mann and Weil could leave, rework it and bring it back. Mann and Weil were thrilled to work with Leiber and Stoller and opted to rewrite it with them.

Lyrics:
I hear the neon lights are bright
on Broadway
I hear that dreams come true there everyday
I hear there life don't get you down
The way it get you in this small town
Sware I'm gonna get me there someway

See the girls are just real fine
on broadway
They say they're make of things you can't buy
They say that you can be someone
And It don't matter where you come from
Sware I gotta get there or I'll die

Sware I gotta get there or I'll die
(On Broadway)
