New San Antonio Rose - Bing Crosby

New San Antonio Rose
Lyrics written by: Bob Wills
Original music written by: Bob Wills
Adapted from: San Antonio Rose [instrumental] written by Bob Wills - San Antonio Rose with lyrics goes here
Comments: San Antonio Rose was a successful instrumental song recorded by Wills in 1938. In 1940 he added lyrics and christened the new version "New San Antonio Rose", with vocals by Tommy Duncan. Often the lyrical version is just titled "San Antonio Rose" or "Rose of San Antone".
Note: All instrumental versions should be assigned to the "San Antonio Rose" work, never the "New San Antonio" work.

New San Antonio Rose Lyrics

Deep within my heart lies a melody
A song of old San Antone
Where in dreams I live with a memory
Beneath the stars all alone

It was there I found beside the Alamo
Enchantment strange as the blue, up above
A moonlit pass that only she would know
Still hears my broken song of love

Moon in all your splendor know only my heart
Call back my Rose, Rose of San Antone
Lips so sweet and tender like petals falling apart
Speak once again of my love, my own

Broken song, empty words I know
Still live in my heart all alone
For that moonlit pass by the Alamo
And Rose, my Rose of San Antone
