Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia known professionally as Akshay Kumar, is an Indian born Canadian actor, producer, television personality, martial artist, stuntman and philanthropist who works in Bollywood films.Akshay was born in Amritsar, India on 9 September 1967. He lived and grew up in Delhi's Chandni Chowk and later he moved to Mumbai when his father left Army to become an accountant with UNICEF. He received his school education from Don Bosco School, simultaneously learning Karate. He enrolled in Mumbai's Guru Nanak Khalsa College for higher education, but dropped out. After having obtained a black belt in Taekwondo in India, Akshay went to Bangkok to learn martial arts and lived in Thailand for five years learning Thai Boxing.
After Thailand, Kumar went to work in Kolkata in a travel agency, then in Dhaka, Bangladesh in a hotel and Delhi where he sold Kundan jewellery. Upon his return to Mumbai, he commenced the teaching of martial arts.
Kumar made his first appearance as the lead actor opposite Raakhee and Shantipriya in Saugandh (1991).

Chandni Chowk to China is an action comedy film directed by Nikkhil Advani and stars Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles with Mithun Chakraborty and Hong Kong action cinema actor Gordon Liu among the co-stars. In addition to being shot in China, many parts of the film were shot in Bangkok, Thailand, although some of the China scenes were shot in sets in the Shanghai Film Studio. The movie was released on 16 January 2009.

Kambakkht Ishq is a romantic comedy drama film directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film is based on the 2002 Tamil film Pammal K.
