Souls
Musical Band in Bangladesh

A group of boys inspired by western ROCK music decided to form a Band naming it "Shurela". Shurela was founded in the year 1972. A year later the band was renamed "SOULS" marking the birth year of the legendary Band 1973. The founder members were Subrata Barua (Ronny), Sajed-ul-Alam and Mumtazul haque (Lulu). On their invitation Naqib Uddin Khan, Tapan Chowdhury, Ahmed Newaz, Tajul Imam, Rorenzo Paul, Rudy Thomas and Shahed-ul-alam joined the band. Towards the mid seventies Lulu and Rorenzo left and later Rouf Chowdhury joined in.

Their first line up consisted of Sazed Ul Alam and Lulu on guitars, Newaz on percussion, Roni on drums, and Tajul on vocals.

The end of 1972, founder member Lulu left the band before Nakib Khan joined the band. Nakib Khan's induction into the band was followed by Pilu Khan and Tapan Choudhury.

In 1977 and 1978, Nasim Ali Khan and Ayub Bachchu also joined the band. Afterwards, they started writing and composing their own songs while performing cover songs of western bands in hotels.

In 1982, after the release of their second album then Nakib Khan and Pilu khan left the band.

In 1988, they released their fourth album East and West, afterwards, Ayub Bachchu left Souls.

In 1993, Souls released their fifth album E Emon Porichoy, afterwards, Tapan left the band. Tapan was replaced by Partho Borua as the lead singer
