Miles is one of the most successful bands in Bangladesh.
The band was formed in 1979. The first line-up was Farid Rashid, Kamal Mainuddin, Larry Burnaby, Ishtiaq, Musa, Robin and the late Happy Akhand. Soon after the band was formed, Shafin and Hamin Ahmed joined the band in that year in 1979. Miles' usually showed up stage performance at Hotel Intercontinental (handover to widely known Sheraton Hotel (1983-2011), then renamed as Ruposhi Bangla (2011-2013), then again intercontinental from 2018).
In 1982, BTV invited them to play instrumental music at a half-hour program. That was the first time people got to see Miles. Manam Ahmed has joined in 1982.
Several 'firsts' enrich Miles' achievements. It is the first band that had a CD release as 'Best of Miles' in 1994. It is the first band from Bangladesh that toured the United States. According to Shafin, it is the only Bangladeshi band that was interviewed by international channels such as BBC, CNN and Al Jazeera.

Shafin Ahmed ( শাফিন আহমেদ )
Shafin Ahmed ( শাফিন আহমেদ ) is a Bangladeshi singer and composer. His father, Kamal Das Gupta, was a noted music director, while his mother, Feroza Begum, was a Nazrul Sangeet singer. Shafin took lessons about Nazrul Sangeet in his childhood. He was exposed to western musical influences since he studied in England, along with his elder brother, Hamin Ahmed.
On January 12, 2010, Shafin Ahmed left Miles and formed a new band group – "Rhythm of Life". But Shafin disbanded the new group and returned to Miles at the end of the year.
